Mr. George Perry McAlister, age 87 of Shelby, NC, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years of the home, Esperanza (Botero) McAlister, a daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Nicholas and husband of Connecticut, a grandchild, three brothers, Tom McAlister of Shelby, NC, John McAlister and wife Gloria of Shelby, NC, and Bobby McAlister of Shelby, NC, two sisters, Betty Davis of Shelby, NC, and Ruby Harper of Shelby, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Perry was born in Cleveland County on November 9, 1927 and was the son of the late Charles and Annie Mae (McNeely) McAlister and was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles McAlister Jr., William McAlister, Clyde Ray McAlister and Paul McAlister, and a sister, Nellie Lucile Powell.
