Gracie D. Padgett, age 56, of Bostic, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born July 12, 1958 in Tennessee, she was a daughter to the late Clarence Scott and Lillian Sexton Scott. Gracie was a graduate of Franklin High School and also received a two year degree from ICC. She worked for Watts Water Technologies for twenty-nine years as a cost reduction engineer. Gracie was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a choir member, worked in the food pantry and cooked for the Care Ministry. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach and especially loved spending time with her family. Her calling in life was to take care of her family as well as many others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Scott.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-six years, John J. Padgett; three sons, Joshua J. Padgett and wife Emily, Jason J. Padgett and wife, April all of Bostic and Jeffery J. Padgett and wife, Haley of Shelby; Special friends, Carrie and Brian Wood along with their children, Sid and Riley of Ellenboro; brother, Charles Scott of Washington State; two sisters, Tracey Fish of Bostic and Elizabeth Stamper of Mooresboro; In-laws, Jennings and Hazel Padgett of Bostic. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Avery, Lauren, Garrett, Clayton, Hunter, Dawson, Elliott, Koby, Peyton, Logan, Lindsey, Bethany and Philip.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverends Robert Hensley, Mack Tester, Roger Overton and Scott Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Ellenboro.
