Grady R. Edwards

SHELBY: Grady R. Edwards, 94, died Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Mountain Home Health & Rehab in Hendersonville. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Colin and Artie Lemons Edwards. Grady was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He worked as a farmer, and was self-employed for more than 30 years, as a radio and TV repairman. Besides farming, he enjoyed gardening, reading, family traditions and gatherings with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harlan Edwards, and sister, Hazel Edwards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Mattie Hipps Edwards of Shelby; daughter, Wanda Greene (Carl) of Shelby; sons, Mike Edwards (Diane) of Mooresboro, Larry Edwards of Shelby, and Roger Edwards (Pat) of Mooresboro; grandchildren, Kevin Greene (Julie) of Raleigh, Carla Greene of Shelby, Robert Edwards (Sarah) of Shelby, Marc Edwards of Ellenboro, Karma Harris (Ginger) of Jacksonville, FL, John Edwards (Brandi) of Boiling Springs, Kelly Anderson of Shelby, and Karen Freeman (Shane Teseniar) of Ellenboro; 16 great grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and his caregivers, Michael Baldwin, Kira Lawrence, Becky Wright, Teddy White, Cierra Spikes, Tabitha Peace and Tari Brown.

Funeral services will be held 3pm, Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Frazier and Rev. Chris Devine officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Burial will take place, Monday, 10am, in Cleveland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice
