Gregory Alan Cook

Gregory Alan Cook, 54, of Maynardville, TN, passed away, Wednesday, February 1, 2018 at home surrounded by family. Gregory was born in Shelby, NC on April 4, 1963 to DL & Martha Cook. He was a member of Claxton Church of God of Union Assembly and spent his career in the manufacturing industry. Gregory enjoyed watching sports, especially the University of North Carolina Tar heels and the Dallas Cowboys. Although it must be said he was learning to like the Tennessee Volunteers. He was a son, husband, father, uncle and most importantly... he was Poppy to his grandbabies.

Gregory is preceded in death by his father, DL; brother, Mark Stafford; his sister, Ann Weaver; his father-in-law Joe Thomas and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Angela Cook; his children and spouses, Ashley & BJ Medley, Matthew & Katelyn Cook, and stepdaughter, Stephanie & RJ McMahan; his four grandchildren, Alyssa, Caleb, Brandon, and Kaylah; his mother-in-law Sue Thomas; his siblings, Brian Cook & Bobby Stone of Durham, NC, David & Tracy Stevens of Durham, NC, and Wanda Stafford & Donald Raines of Shelby, NC; his niece Rebecca and family; and other friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Parkwest Hospital, Tennessee Cancer Specialist, Thompson Cancer Survival Center, and Internal Medicine West for all their loving care to both Gregory and his family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm, and other times at the home of his brother, David Cook, with a Funeral Service at 7:00pm in the chapel at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain. Rev. Richard Stroup, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gregory Cook. Gregory loved to quote Steve Austin when he would say, "cause Stone Cold said so."
