GSCT Celebrates Season Opening Sept. 13, 2014
GSCT will celebrate the opening of its 2014-2015 Season on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Neal Senior Center. The doors will open at 7:00 p.m. for refreshments, and the evening’s entertainment will begin at 7:30 p.m. Greater Shelby Community Theatre (GSCT) has been offering quality productions for over 35 years in the Greater Shelby area. Featuring several directors who are new to GSCT but veterans of the craft, the GSCT 2014-2015 season features a mix of classic and new shows to continue the tradition of quality entertainment. Greater Shelby Community Theatre annually presents its Season Opener annually as a thank you to its supporters.
This year’s entertainment for the Season Opener will feature a staged reading of a play written to celebrate the 220th anniversary of Johnny Appleseed’s birth. Written by one of Greater Shelby Community Theatre’s resident playwrights, Ludy Wilkie, “Hello, Johnny Appleseed” will feature Craig Davis, Laura Wheeler, and Lilly Wheeler. In addition to this special presentation, patrons will be able to enjoy vocal entertainment from Betty Z. Taylor. An Academic Advisor in the Student Success Center at Cleveland Community College, Betty Z. Taylor has been singing all her life to make people happy and has sung several times for the American Legion World Series. In addition to providing entertainment and refreshments, The Season Opener offers the opportunity to purchase season tickets. Season tickets are an excellent way to save money while still supporting the work that GSCT does in the community. Season Tickets are also valid for free admission to performances that are part of the Kings Mountain Little Theatre 2014-2015 season.
