Habitat for Humanity Restore Salutes Volunteers
The Habitat for Humanity Cleveland County ReStore held a Volunteer Appreciation Day on Thursday, March 22nd to honor their volunteers.
Refreshments and door prizes were given to the dedicated ReStore volunteers. Wal-Mart Distribution Center  #6070 was honored with a plaque in appreciation for their continued support and VAP (Volunteerism Always Pays) grant program.
The ReStore is a fundraising division of Habitat for Humanity in Cleveland County and is located at 323 W. Grover Street, Shelby. They sell donated materials and items such as new and gently used furniture, housewares, building supplies, and other miscellaneous merchandise to the public. Profits from the ReStore go directly to help build homes in Cleveland County. Ten percent of undesignated funds go to HFH International to build homes globally.
Currently, the local home Habitat is building is located on Cottonwood Drive in Shelby and is sponsored by the Shelby Lunch, Shelby Breakfast and Boiling Springs Rotary Clubs. This will be the twenty-fifth home built by Habitat for Humanity in Cleveland County since its incorporation in December 1987.
Habitat does not build a house for a family; they build it with them. This reinforces a sense of pride and ownership for each resident. Families pay for their homes with a no interest mortgage.
The organization hopes and prays that God will continue to bless us in Cleveland County, so we can help many more families become homeowners.
