Gaffney -- Mr. Halkard Alfred "Butch" Hawkins, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Rock Hill, he was the husband of Elizabeth Pridmore Hawkins and the son of the late Halkard Asbury Hawkins and Louise Christmas Walker. Halkard previously worked as an electrician and was a member of Berry Memorial Baptist Church. He also worked at Greene Funeral Home for fifteen years before moving to Gaffney.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hawkins is survived by a son, Barry Hawkins, of Gaffney; a daughter, Paula Dawkins, of Waxaw, NC; and three brothers, Douglas Hawkins, Donnie Hawkins, and Carl "Buddy" Walker III.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristy Smith; three brothers, Glen Hawkins, Wendell "Bugs" Hawkins, and Frank Hawkins; and two sisters, Ella Ray Hammond and Cathy Lewis.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, 30th of December, 2018, from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM at Berry Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Troy Cooper and Rev. Gerald Bennett officiating. Interment will in the Mesopotamia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Harvey Thomas, Darrell Bishop, Dale Dove, Butch McCullough, Bill Love, and Tom Council will serve as pallbearers.
