Helen Susan Grayson Benfield Propst, 90 of Marion Street, Shelby passed away
on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Brookdale in Shelby.

Born August 11, 1926 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter to the late
William Grayson and Vangie Hoppes Grayson. She was a foster grandparent and
was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband,
Dwight Benfield; and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Propst; son, Rev. Danny Benfield and
wife Ellen of Raleigh; two daughters, Elaine Davis of Greenville, SC and
Linda Lemasters of Suffolk, VA; step- daughter, Kathy Koffey and husband,
Fr. Kevin Koffey of Fairlawn, NJ; two sisters, Joann Lail of Bessemer City
and Janell Camp of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Peyton Cline, Michael
Benfield, Mark Benfield, Derek Hooker, Echo Perilla, Tracey Hudson, Amy
Turner, Clay Evans and twelve great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Norman's Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Benfield officiating.

Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
