Hettie Irene Ledford Faulkner, 99, of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

She was born in Cleveland County on November 2, 1916 to the late Esper and Cora Weaver Ledford. She was retired from Lily Mills where she worked in the spinning room. In later years, she was a foster grandparent. She was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceeded in death by her husbands, Ralph Durand Whisnant and Paul Faulkner; son; James Pickney Whisnant, brothers Leroy Ledford and Pinkney Ledford, sisters; Ethel Fisher, Eva Lail, and Minnie Bridges.

Surviviors include son; Carl Whisnant and wife Cathy of Gaffney, SC, daughters; Roberta Clay and husband Gene of Fallston, Mary Turbyfill and husband Earl of Charlotte, sisters; Mary Margaret Sain of Shelby, 6 grandchildren; Danny Clay, David Clay, Doug Clay, Jeff Turbyfill, Rick Turbyfill and Celeste, 9 great grandchildren, Alex Clay, Dana Tatters, Dustin Clay, Bethany Boggs, Morgan Morrison, Maggie Clay, Molly Clay, Patrick Turbyfill, DeAnna Turbyfill, Miranda, Isaac, Isaiah and Devin, and 2 step-grandchildren, Charles and Erica and 6 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM, Tuesday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Arthur Holland officiating.

Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
