| Inez Annis Allen, 103, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Sterling House in Shelby. A native of Rutherford County she was the daughter of the late Hill Carl and Sarah Nanney Allen. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Odessa Allen, Zula Allen Whitaker, Onsbey P. Allen, Mary Allen Pruett, Hessie Allen McCurry, Lydia Allen Early, Odell Allen, Leola Allen, Goldie Allen, H. C. Allen, Jr. and Dortha Allen her infant sister. Mrs. Allen was part of the founding members of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church and leader of the Girls Scouts of America in the church. She enjoyed baking and various crafting. Mrs. Allen lived through manned flight from the Wright Brothers to the space shuttle flights.
Mrs. Allen is survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ann Duncan will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
