Ira Dene Bledsoe

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ira Dene Bledsoe on October 14, 2014, after an extended battle against cancer. His life was defined by his strength of faith, spirit, determination, love of family, concern of others, and service to his country. Dene enjoyed camping, fishing, grilling out, car shows, beach music, and auto racing. He cherished his time and relationships with family, friends, neighbors, his buds, and extended family members. Dene possessed honor, integrity, an ease of making friends, and a love of life. People will smile when they remember his unique wit, his use of nick names, and his figures of speech. Dene honored his wife with a telephone call on the exact date and time of their anniversary all the years she worked.

Mr. Bledsoe was born April 29, 1948 in Miami, Florida. He lived his school years in Charlotte before marrying and living in Shelby until his death. Dene was most proud of his 22 years of service in the US Army National Guard as Staff Sergeant, and his 25 years with Lowes, Co. as Store Set Up Supervisor.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mahala Mintz Bledsoe and his beloved granddaughter Aisylin (Aisy) Grace Bledsoe.  Dene is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cynthia Hord Bledsoe, children Derek, Scott and wife Stephanie,  grandson, Jaspar, father, Roger Williams Bledsoe, sister, Bonnie Black, brother Gene and wife Bobbie, sister-in-law Paula Demon and husband Rick, former daughter-in-law Stephanie, his devoted Maltese, Precious, special friends Al and Deb Dorsey, Max and Kathy Carroll, as well as loving nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
