James Clyde Earl

James Clyde Earl, 84, of Lawndale, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home.

Born in Cleveland County, on April 20, 1937, he was a son of the late Clayton Earl and Mozelle Hudson Earl. Jim was retired from PPG Industries and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and Fallston Masonic Lodge #356. He also served in the US Marine Corp.

Jim was an avid gardener and outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and grow vegetables to share with his family and friends. He was a charter member of the Shelby Farmers Market, where he could be found any day they were open taking orders and providing the community with his homegrown produce. He and Lucille traveled the country in their camper, and enjoyed yearly trips with family to the mountains, beach, and Amish country. Jim spent many afternoons with friends playing golf, though what brought him the most joy was spending time with his four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Earl and Bobby Earl and a sister, Sue Turner.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Reep Earl; two sons, Todd Earl and wife, Maureen of Charlotte and Greg Earl of Lawndale; brother Wayne Earl of Lawndale; sister, Linda Marshall of Lawndale; and four grandchildren, Cooper Earl, Henry Earl, Parker Earl, and Lucy Earl.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021, at 1:00 PM St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
