James Craig Allen, age 76, of Crestview Drive, Forest City, NC, died March 18, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
     James was born May 22, 1936 in Greenville County, SC to the late Andy Shuford Allen and Annie Eulalia Price Allen.  He was a veteran of the US Army and served his country during the Korean War.  He owned and operated Allen’s Wheel Alignment Shop for many years and also worked for the Rutherford County Department of Transportation as a mechanic.  James was a longtime member of Gray’s Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed all kinds of woodworking and loved to build things with his hands.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca June Dotson.
      Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Smith Allen; one daughter, Sharon Lowery and husband, Phil of Rutherfordton; one sister, Lavada Wall of Shiloh; two grandchildren, Brandy Greene Morris and husband, Shane, and James Neil Lowery; three great grandchildren, Destiny Love Greene, Hayden McKenzie Burns and Kelsey Anderson.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Gray’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Alvin Allen, Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Eugene Passmore officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
