| James “Junior” Garrett, age 82, of Cullowhee, NC, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Home in Shelby.
Born September 2, 1932 in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late James Arthur Garrett, Sr. and Elvie Bryson Corn. James worked in construction as a finish carpenter most of his life and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Garrett.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Hill and husband, Tim of Forest City and Tina Garrett of Ft. Myers, Florida and one son, Clarence “Artie” Garrett of Lakeland, Florida. He is also survived by two grandchildren, James Oakley, Tara Tays and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Oakley and Kaidence Davis.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Lance Scarlett officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
