Jerry Lee Patterson

Brother Jerry Lee Patterson, age 69, was called to lay aside his working tools to answer the Master's Call on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on February 5, 1948, he was the son of the late William Howard and Ora Lou Poole Patterson. Jerry was a Lifetime member of Lily Baptist Church. He was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202 A.F.& A.M. where he served as a Past Master in 2010. Lifetime member of the Valley of Charlotte Scottish Rite since 2006, he was honored with Knight Commander Court of Honor in November of 2011. He was a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte since 2006 and the Piedmont Shrine Club. Jerry retired from the Cleveland County Sheriff's office as an armed detention officer in 2014. He loved his family, and loved to be called "Uncle Paw-Paw", hunting, fishing, his two cats, "Stormy and Max", and his canine companion, "Sparky". In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Kathleen Self Wolfe; a brother-in-law, Steve Fortenberry, and sister-in-law, Debbie Harris.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 13 years, Betsy Wolfe Patterson; a son, Scott Patterson and wife Pam of Shelby; two sisters, Colleen Kimbell and husband Thomas of Tampa, FL, and Joyce Fortenberry of Shelby; three grandchildren, Michelle Patterson, Michaela Dupre both of Carrollton, GA and Sarah Sherman and husband Daniel of Shelby; three nephews, Daniel Fortenberry, Tommy Kimbell, and Kirk Harris and wife Laurie; two nieces, Terri Contento and husband Jim, Emily Parker and husband Jason; great niece, Rachel Harris; and great nephews, Ethan and Caleb Harris, Ryan and Evan Parker and Masonic Brother Eric Newton and wife Misty and sons, Dylan and Mason of Lawndale.

Memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Eric Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of Scott and Pam Patterson, 1803 David Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
