Jessica Weaver is Student of the Month
Phil Weathers
The  Shelby  Lions  Club  has  honored  Jessica  Weaver  as  its  fifth  “student-of-the month”  for  this academic  year.    Jessica,  a  senior  at  Shelby  High,  plans  to  attend  Western  Carolina  University  after  graduation  and  study pharmacy  or  nursing.    She  and  her  parents,  Andrea  and  Scott  Newcomb,  attended  the  Lions  Club  meeting  on  Tuesday, March  27th  at  Deerbrook  Country  Club.   Guest  speaker  for  the  meeting  was  Phil  Weathers,  who  spoke  on  his  new  book  Wrestling  Tips  for  Middle  and  Junior  High  School. Weathers,  a  former  principal  of  Kings  Mountain  High  and  administrator  in  the  Kings  Mountain  and  Cleveland  County  School  systems  and  guest  columnist  for  area newspapers,   coached  wrestling  at  the  middle  and  high  school  level.    His  book  features  results  of  the  Kings  Mountain  Patriots  Wrestling  Team  from  1976--1990.
