Jimmy Ruel Maney, age 78 of Shelby, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at home. He was born February 10, 1936 in Hayesville, NC. to the late Sam and Martha Bradshaw Maney.
In addition to his parents, Ruel was proceeded in death by his brothers; Dole and David Maney; sister, Lottie Spivey.
Ruel was a loving husband, daddy and grandfather, also known as "Poppy" by his grandchildren. He loved to camp and fish with his family and friends. He also loved gardening and spending time with his customers at S& K Greenhouse. Before working with S&K, Ruel and his wife Mary owned and operated Maney's Produce Market in Franklin, NC for more than 25 years.
Ruel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Jenkins Maney; two children, Sharon Lane and husband, Keith of Mooresboro, NC., Keith Maney and wife, Ginger of Dallas, NC; brothers, Delmar Maney of Dallas, NC, Robert Maney and wife, Bobbie of Kings Mountain, NC., Opal Mashburn and husband Joel of Hayesville, NC., grandchildren Amber Philbeck and husband Clifton, Justin Lane, Ryan and Alex Maney, great-granddaughter Macy Lane Philbeck.
Visitation will be Monday, April 28. 2014 12:00 Pm until 2:00 Pm at Cleveland Funeral Services.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, Shelby, NC with the Reverend Chad Jones officiating.
Burial to follow at Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Height Dr, Shelby, NC 28150
Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory of Shelby will be assisting the family.
