JoAnn Kiser Beckum, age 76 of Sellerstown Road went into eternal rest Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare System, Lincoln surrounded by her family. She was born on January 7, 1940 in Gaston County to the late James Clyde and Mattie Ethel Ware Kiser. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, Young at Heart, and taught the six year old Sunday School class. JoAnn enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, and embroidery. She retired after 40 years from Selective Insurance in Charlotte. JoAnn was a loving wife and loved by everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Rufus "J.R." Kiser.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Tyrone Beckum; her furbaby, Gus; sister, Jeanette Hoyle and husband, Edwin of Cherryville; brother, Lewis Kiser and wife, Gail of Cherryville; special friends, John and Lorna Ross of Cherryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Hendricks and Rev. Robert Redding officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Family Life Center of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
