John Beatty Barber, Jr.

KINGS MOUNTAIN- John Beatty Barber, Jr. lovely known as PawPaw Johnny to his family, 68, went home to be with his Savior after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer, Tuesday February 24, 2015 while at home with his family. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Mary Hughes Barber and John Beatty Barber, Sr.

He was a hard and faithful worker and was employed at Goforth Brothers of Shelby, Foot Mineral of Kings Mountain and retired from Duke Power Catawba Plant in Rock Hill. He was an accomplished pilot who loved to fly and attend air shows with his friends and family. He also was an avid race fan and loved working and playing with his tractors, especially with his grandsons. One of his greatest joys was traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and a former member of Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his church and over the years has served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Food Ministry Volunteer. He also volunteered at the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry as well as any other area of need in his community even throughout his battle with cancer.

PRECEDED: In addition to his father and mother, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Tabin Barber.

SURVIVED: He is survived by one son, Kevin Barber and wife Rhonda; one daughter, Audra B. Price and husband Tommy all of Kings Mountain; one brother, Steve Barber and wife Cindy of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Brison, Clay, and Colt Barber and Zack Price all of Kings Mountain.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm, Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

CLERGY: Rev. Steve Taylor will be officiating the service.

BURIAL: Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
