John Ervin “Erv” Petty

Mr. John Ervin “Erv” Petty, 57, of 1834 Quail Run Drive, Kingstown, NC departed this life on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his residence.  He was born on August 27, 1957 in Rutherford County, NC to the late John Thomas and Ossie Elizabeth Mosley Petty.

John was employed with P.P.G. Industries where he retired from after 22 years of service.  He was a member of Golden Ridge Baptist Church.

John was a well dressed laid back kind of guy who had many friends that he loved like family.  He was loved and cared or by his wife and was a loving father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother in-law, James E. and Ceslie Camp Perkins.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lena Perkins Petty; two daughters, Shirlira C.T. Perkins of Kingstown and Alexis Revonda Petty of the home; one sister, Della Annette Petty of the home; three grandchildren, Miracle, Teneya and Zykia Perkins all of Kingstown; two nieces who were raised as grandchildren, Diamond Dortch and Taossiona Petty; three special nephews, he loved like sons, William Oglesby, Romey Mitchell, Jr. and Lamont Brooks all of Shelby; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Mintz of Charlotte, NC, Chinetta Brooks of Shelby and Louella “Tuddie” Oglesby of Kingstown;  brothers-in-law, Walter Brooks of Kingstown, Louie Davis, Franklin Davis and Jerome Davis; a very special aunt, Ella Mae Watson of Kingstown; additional aunts, Evelyn Mills, Jeanette Mosley, Jettie Mosley and Linda Hamrick all of Forest City, NC, Emma Perkins, Bernadette Mosley and Leslie Perkins; four uncles, Freddie Mosley of Ellenboro, NC, Bobby Mosley of Forest City, NC, Billy Mosley of Charlotte and Don Camp (Nanette) of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Golden Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth R. Martin officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at the church on Sunday and at other times at the home.
