John Henry Colquiet

John Henry Colquiet, age 90, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at home. Born in Cleveland County on January 26, 1927 he was the son of the late John Henry and Eunia Mae Glover Colquiet. John was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. He was a self-employed landscaper for a number of years. John served in the U. S. Navy for 22 years and was in WWII and the Vietnam Conflict. John enjoyed landscaping and going to church. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a brother, George Colquiet; and four sisters, Vera Colquiet, Doris Colquiet, Lucille Colquiet, and Shirley Colquiet.

John is survived by his wife, Evangelist Lois Lowe Colquiet; a son, James Colquiet of Hickory; a daughter, Patricia Skyes and husband David of California; three brothers, Charles Colquiet and wife Gwen, and Lester Colquiet all of New Jersey, James Colquiet and wife JoAnn of Michigan; four sisters, Letha Hamrick of New Jersey, Etta Jones of New York, Daisy Kemp of Atlanta, Ga.; Dean Bell and husband Jimmy of Augusta, Ga.; step-children, ReaShawn Lowe of Pennsylvania, Charles Glen of Kings Mountain, Ayesha Lowe of Lincolnton, Keiau Brantley and husband Daryl of Rock Hill, SC, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friends, Steve Degree and Cleatus Hunsinger and wife Ina.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Maple Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Dover officiating, and with full Military Honors. Quiet hour will be from 12:30pm until 1:00pm in the sanctuary.
