John Paul Dills


 John Paul Dills, 65, of Shelby, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at Charles
George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

Born August 24, 1947 in Montgomery County, Ohio he was a son of the late
Carl W. Dills and Junelee Syx Helterbran.  John retired after 30 years of
service from Duke Power as a service technician and  later worked as a
scheduler for Duke.  He attended Polkville United Methodist Church, was a
member of Deer Brook Golf Club and former member of  Upper Cleveland Bass
Club and  the VFW in Shelby.  He was a sergeant in the  Army where he served
in  Korea  and later volunteered for the war in Vietnam. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his mother-in-law,
Rachel Washburn Bridges and sister, Charlene Sipos.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jewel Bridges Dills; son, Johnny
Dills and wife, Nicole of Shelby; daughter, Jennifer Bailes and fiancé, Dale
Collins both of Shelby; three grandchildren, Paul Bailes,  Brandon Bailes
and Stephen Bailes all of Shelby; brother, David McNutt and wife, Marlana of
Valdosta, Ga; four sisters, Catherine Sloan of Charlotte, Robin Collins of
Valdosta, Ga, Melody Gamble and husband, Larry of Shelby and Kimberle Miller
of Cherryville; father-in-law, Harold "Frosty" Bridges; stepfather, Tom
Sullivan and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
At other times the family will be at the home of Jennifer Bailes, 503
Leander Street, Shelby.

Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston

Officiating: Rev. Ervin Bulo Price

Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
