Johnnie Ella Wall Bowen Plumley
Johnnie Ella Wall Bowen Plumley, age 84, of Chase High Road, Forest City, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
Born on Friday, September 11, 1931 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of late Paul Avery Wall and Etrula Radford Wall. Johnnie was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1949 and a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She worked in textiles at Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant for many years and then as a dietary manager for Inman Nursing Care for over twenty years. She enjoyed reading, working on "Find-a-Word" books, studying recipes and playing the piano. Johnnie was a woman of perseverance and faith. She was known as a prayer warrior with a loving and kind spirit and one who cared much for others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Ed Plumley and only son, Steve Bowen.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianne Clayton and husband, William "Ditney" and Darlene Harmon all of Sandy Mush and Danita Sartin and husband, Hooper of Henrietta; three step-sons, Dean, Gary and Rick Plumley all of South Carolina. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor, Brian Harmon, Michael Harmon and Sonya Outling; five great-grandchildren, Brianna Taylor, Alex Taylor, Reid Harmon Ella Harmon and Cragan Outling.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Providence United Methodist Church with Reverend David Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chase Corner Ministries Crisis Center, PO Box 327, Henrietta, NC 28076.
The family wishes to convey a special thank you to the wonderful staff of White Oak Manor for the love they showed to Ms. Johnnie as she was affectionately called.
