| Joseph Marion Head, Jr. age 67, died Monday, August 18, 2014 of cancer. He was born in Gastonia, NC on December 2, 1946. At the time of his death, he resided in Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Army from 1968 until 1972.
He is preceded in death by both parents: Joseph, Sr. and Ruby Suttles Head Burger; five siblings: Colleen Deaton, Grace Mask, Ricky Head, Harry Head and Harriet Head; and one son: Kenny Dean McMurry.
He is survived by two children: Leisa Dalton of Florida and Jesse Tarver of Charlotte, NC, and two grandchildren. Other family members remaining include two siblings: Carl Head (wife Mary); and Nita Dale (husband Henry), both of Rutherfordton and a large number of nieces and nephews
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery of South Carolina with Rev. Jesse Lee Tarver officiating.
