Josephine Towery Cook, 84 of 102 Cook Street passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1929 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Milton Towery and Mamie Leona Earl Towery.  She worked as a beautician and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. Mrs. Cook was also a member of the Council on Aging of Cleveland County's Upper Cleveland Group.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Franklin Lattimore and her brother, Hugh Towery.

Survivors include her second husband, W.C. Cook of 44 years; son, Chip Lattimore and wife, Melinda of Lawndale; daughter, Karen Lattimore Smith and husband, Walt of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Jimmy Lattimore of Lawndale, Barbara Lattimore of Lawndale, Codie Lattimore of Jacksonville, NC, Dawn Carter of Wilmington and Kelley Conley of Asheville; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM, Tuesday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Lawndale. At other times the family will be at the home, 102 Cook Street, Lawndale.

Memorial Service: 4:00 PM, Tuesday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Lawndale

Officiating: Rev. Tim Elmore and Rev. Jason Allen

Burial: will follow in the church cemetery
