Julie Mae Wellman Ayers, age 83, formerly of Shelby, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Peak Resources. She was born September 5, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Gus and Alda Self Wellman. Julie Mae was a member of a nondenominational church. She was a wonderful homemaker and former CNA at Beam's Nursing Home. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She enjoyed mowing her grass and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin B. Ayers; sister, Marie Martin; and son-in-law, Eric Beam.
Survivors include her son, Ricky Ayers and wife, Candy; daughter, Janet A. Beam; grandchildren, April Ayers, Jason Ayers, and Gus Beam; and her roommate, Amanda Biddy.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Peak Resources and all the staff for the love and care provided to Ms. Julie Mae during her time there.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
