Keith Douglas Fortenberry, 59, of 201 East Carolina Street, passed away Thursday, March 13th, 2014, at Wendover Hospice Home.
Born in Shelby, he was married to Shirley Ann Childers Fortenberry and he was the son of the late Clevie E. Fortenberry and Ruby Roberts. He worked as a plummer helper and was a member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Fortenberry is survived by four step-sons, Steve Starnes of Blacksburg, Ricky Starnes of Blacksburg, Bobby Starnes of Blacksburg, and Christopher Smith of Waterloo, SC; three step-daughters, Rita Martin of Blacksburg, Cheryl Dedmon of Panama City, FL, and Laura Gunn of Grover, NC; a brother, Marvin Fortenberry of Boiling Springs, NC; and three sisters, Genette Costner of Taylors, SC, Judy Ross of Falston, NC, and Faye Kidd of Shelby.
Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe Fortenberry and Steve Fortenberry, and three sisters, Carolyn Davidson, Connie McCain, and Dorothy Fortenberry.
Services for Mr. Fortenberry will be announced at a later date.
The family will be at their respective homes.
