Mr. Lester Dyer, 84 of Shelby, Passed away April 10, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his children, Wanda Fisher of Shelby, NC, Michael Dyer, Sr., David Dyer and wife Kimberly of Energy, IL, and Robin Dyer and wife Renee of Shelby, NC, ten grandchildren, Natasha Fisher Brown and husband Brad of Charlotte, NC, Nikki Byers and husband Dustin of Ft. Bragg, NC, Michael Dyer II of Shelby, NC, Blake Dyer and wife Maria of Ecuador, Dakota Dyer of Shelby, NC, Brandon Dyer and wife Heather of Charlotte, NC, Liz Vojtech and husband Trevor of Shelby, NC, T.J. Wray of Shelby, NC, Laura Sullens and husband Niles of Hendersonville, NC, and Nathan Wray of Shelby, NC, eleven great grandchildren, seven brothers, Leroy Dyer and wife Mary of Shelby, NC, Arthur Dyer and wife Beatrice of Shelby, NC, Fred Dyer and wife Ebby Jo of Kings Mountain, NC, Richard Dyer and wife Katherine of Ellenboro, NC, Dean Dyer and wife Linda of Bostic, NC, Frank Dyer and wife Nancy of Bostic, NC, and Bud Dyer and wife Carrie of Ellenboro, NC, a sister, Ruth Battie and husband Phillip of Bostic, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born September 20, 1932 in Cleveland County, Mr. Dyer was the son of the late Lawrence and Roxie Wade Dyer and was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Martin Dyer and a son, Jimmy Dyer.
Mr. Dyer was known for his love of God. He was a founding member of Morning Star Baptist Church where he directed music for more than 35 years. Devoted to his wife of 54 years and to his family, he will remain in their hearts forever.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Morning Star Baptist Church conducted by Pastor David Dyer. A visitation will be held from 11:30 - 1:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Grover Cemetery.
