Linda Leach Darr Bass, 72, of 277 East Jones Street, passed away Sunday, October 12th, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Howard "Buddy" Bass and the daughter of the late Jerome and Nellie Carroll Leach. In her free time, Mrs. Bass loved to work with flowers and she always had a beautiful rose garden. Mrs. Bass retired from textiles and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bass is survived by one son, Jimmy Dean Darr and wife, Vicki, of Blacksburg; two daughters, Sharon Darr Chitty and husband, Charles, of Gaffney and Pam Darr Walker and husband, Joe, of Blacksburg; one step-daughter, Lori Lynn White and husband, Chan, of Lincolnton, NC; one sister, Sandra Leach Kelly and husband, J.W., of Blacksburg; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Leach of Blacksburg and Wilhelmena Leach of Hartsville, SC; five grandchildren, Summer Ham of Blacksburg, Jennifer Walker of Smyrna, April Walker of Blacksburg, Matthew Walker of Blacksburg, and Conner Chitty of Gaffney; two step-grandchildren, Hunter and Jordan White of Lincolnton, NC; six great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.,
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy W. Darr; a son, Roger Lee Darr; and three brothers, David, Tommy, and Bobby Leach.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Blacksburg Church of God. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Vernon Moore and Rev. Curley Lanier officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Joe Walker, Matthew Walker, Charles Chitty, Conner Chitty, Jamie Kelly, and Joey Kelly will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the residence.
