Loy William White Sr.

Loy William White Sr., age 82 of Courtland Drive and White Oak Manor, where he was affectionately known as a “Geezer”,  died Friday,  July 4, 2014,  after many years of declining health. A lifelong resident of Cleveland County, Loy, “Corvette Bandit” was a retired line driver for Carolina Freight and owner and president of Loy White and Sons Pool and Fence Company. During his lifetime Loy was a member of various organization; Loyal Order of the Moose, Legion of the Moose, Cleveland County Fraternal Order of Police, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Governor of Chevys Under Glass, the local chapter of the National Council of Corvette Clubs. He was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, where he served as a member of the Vestry, and was responsible for the care of the church grounds.  He is his preceded in death by parents, Fonze and Hattie Curtis White; a sister, Shirley Hamrick; a brother, Leonard White; two nieces, Debbie Raco Hurst and husband Wayne and Sharon Hill; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bruno and Lucille Raco.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory his wife Barbara Jane and three son, Loy William White Jr. “Billy”and his wife Kristin, Joseph M. White, and Jeffrey R White; a brother-in-law, Joseph D. Raco and wife Emma.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer,  on Sumter Street in Shelby, with the Rev. Dr.Valori Mulvey Sherer, Rector officiating. Burial will follow after the service and reception at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday July 7, 2014 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

His family wishes to express their thanks to those involved in his care through the years; the doctors at Shelby Medical Associates, Shelby Surgical Associates, The Wound Healing Center, Staff at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, and All Employees at White Oak Manor Shelby. We will always be greatful for your care, concern and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Loy’s name to; The Clifford’s Army Rescue, (C.A.R.E), 518 Lee Street, Shelby NC 28150 or Jericho’s Wish, 61 Linden Road, Burlington NJ 08016. Both are 501c non-profit.
