Marcella Areleene Phillips Weathers, age 65, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Mitchell County on February 2, 1952 she was the daughter of Colleen Smith Phillips of Crossnore and the late R. J. Phillips. Marcella was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Salem High School in Morganton and went on to Western Piedmont Community College where she earned her Dental Assistant Certification. Marcella went to retired after many years of service from her husband's dental office, William A. Weathers DDS, in Boiling Springs. Marcella was a loving and devoted wife. She enjoyed reading, knitting and embroidery, and was an avid movie buff. In addition to her father, Marcella is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jackie W. Duffel.

In addition to her mother, Marcella is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dr. William A. "Doc" Weathers; brothers -in-law and sisters-in-law, A.P. Weathers and wife Elsie of Cliffside, Nancy W. Mitchell of Charlotte, Joseph Duffel of San Francisco; Caregivers and special friends, Ana Garcia, Keri Bryant, Jessica Chivalan, and Betty Jones; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The burial will follow at Lattimore Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
