Margaret Louise Blanton McMurry
Margaret Louise Blanton McMurry, 85, of Shelby, NC passed away May 14, 2014. Margaret was born July 13, 1928 in Gaffney, SC. She was the daughter of the late Otis Alexander and Sally Ellis Blanton. She was the devoted wife of Robert McMurry, of 63 years, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was a graduate of Gaffney High School Class of 1945, Gardner Webb College Class of 1947, and received her Registered Nursing degree from Shelby School of Nursing Class of 1950. She served her community as a hospital, private practice and orthodontic nurse for 45 years, and retired in 1995 from Dr. John Thompson Orthodontics. Margaret was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Shelby and WMU. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and reading. She loved her family dearly and considered her neighbors as family. 

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by one brother, Ellis Blanton, one sister, Cassie Blanton Hardin, one sister-in-law Bernice McMurry Hoyle and one brother-in-law Jack McMurry.  She is survived by her husband, Robert McMurry; daughter, Susan McMurry Grose and husband David of Shelby; son, Robert Alexander McMurry and wife Valena of Huntersville; sister, Francis Blanton Harris of Boiling Springs; two brothers-in-law, Fitzhugh McMurry and wife Judy and Joseph McMurry and wife Beverly; two granddaughters, Michelle Grose of Charlotte and Megan McMurry of Charleston; and two grandsons, Michael Grose of Shelby and Ben McMurry of Raleigh; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  

The service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Shelby. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Arrangements are by Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. Burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery, Shelby. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Shelby, 120 N. Lafayette St, Shelby, NC 28150.
