Martha Jane Putnam Brindle, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2013 at home.  Born in Cleveland County on January 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Seth and Bessie Montgomery Putnam.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby Putnam, Tommy Putnam, and Betty Ledbetter.  Martha was retired from the textile industry.  She loved working in her garden and yard.  She will be missed deeply by her family but especially her granddaughter Allison, who spent numerous days, nights and summer with her Mamaw.  She is now with her beloved Frank.

Martha is survived by her children, Ronnie Hamrick (Grover), Tommy Hamrick (Missy), Crystall Brindle, and Donna Ruppe (David), all of Shelby; grandchildren, Jennifer Ledbetter (Wayne) of Shelby, David Ruppe (Lindsay) of Shelby, Tyler Hamrick of Cullowhee, NC, Jessica Hamrick of Raleigh, NC, Amanda Burgess ( Shane) of Shelby, Morgan Ruppe of Shelby, Allison Rogers of Shelby, and Cameron Schrader of Shelby; great grandchildren, Chris Nolen of Grover, Matthew, Brayden, and Gavin Ledbetter of Shelby and Malachi Ruppe of Shelby; twin sister, Mary Smith of Shelby; brothers, Dan Putnam (Cornelia) of Shelby, Boyd Putnam (Barbara), and Roy Putnam – all of Mooresboro.  Martha had an extended family of friends she loved dearly, and special friends who were more family than friends, Jeffrey and Dena Rogers and their children, Peyton and Dylan.  Grieving Martha is also her beloved dog Sally.   

The family would like to extend an enormous amount of gratitude to Hospice and moms nurse who helped her and us during her “going home” journey and a heartfelt thanks to Morgan Ruppe, Martha’s granddaughter who helped with Martha’s daily care with complete devotion.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  The Rev. Justin Williamson will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fellowship Independent Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00- 7:30pm on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home.   At other times the family will be at the home.
