Mary Elizabeth Trammell Pope, 88, of Lewittes Rd., formerly of Cherryville, died July 21, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born in Gaston Co., on July 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Andrew and Lillian Lee Wylie Trammell. She was a retired spinner from the Dara Yarn Mill and was a Baptist.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Edgar Harlan Pope in 12967, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, brothers Grady, Roy, Luther, and Fred Trammell, and sister Matonia Watson, Lillian Costner, Betty Ann Hull an Patsy Gagus.
Survivors include her children Cindy Payung (Richard) of Taylorsville, Peggy Ann Travis (Ronnie) of Claremont, and David Daniel Pope (Joyce) of Hickory, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July25, 2017 at 2 PM Carpenter Porter Funeral and Cremation Services wit Rev. Paul Schronce officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 1-1:45 PM and at other times at the home.
