Mary Phillips Kennedy, age 72, of Rutherfordton, died April 14, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born June 26, 1943 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Sam Lee Phillips and Lois Ruppe Phillips. She worked as a CNA in home health care for several years and attended Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tony High and four brothers, Mack Phillips, Lee Phillips, Carl J. Phillips and Jimmy Phillips.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Goforth and husband, Richard of Forest City and Heather Martinez and husband, Randy of Rutherfordton; three sons, Billy Oxendale and wife, Tammy of Rutherfordton, Arthur Lee Oxendale of Forest City and Jay Ivy Jr. and wife, Janet of Easly, SC; two brothers, John Floyd Phillips and wife, Frances of Forest City and Buddy Phillips and wife, Peggy of Greenwood, SC; one sister, Carol Melton and husband, Robert of Charlotte. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Chad Sisk and Mr. Jay Ivy Jr. officiating.
Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
