Mildred Elizabeth Harmon Wright, 88, of 612 E. Sanders Road, Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Born May 21, 1924 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo Webb Harmon and Nellie Lenora Carpenter Harmon. She was retired from Doran Textiles and was a 1941 graduate of Waco High School. Mrs. Wright was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir, Joy Group, Bible Study Group and was past president Baptist Women.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Wright, a brother, Charles Harmon and three sisters, Lula Belle Allen, Ruth Bess and Ann Beam.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Wright of Valdese and Donnie Wright and wife, Cheryl of Shelby; daughter, Linda Gailey of Grover; two sisters, Aileen Sinclair of Gerton and Nell Farrell and husband, Max of Lakeway, TX; sister-in-law, Nancy Harmon of Morganton; five grandchildren, Amy Wright, Dara Curtis, Brian Wright, Phillip Gailey and Timothy Pugh; two great-grandchildren, Anna Curtis and Alyson Curtis; two step-grandchildren, Anna and Robert Scruggs and four step-great grandchildren, Kaylee Scruggs, Abi Scruggs, Luke Scruggs and Macy Scruggs.
Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
