Lost Playwrights, Hendersonville
Lost Playwrights will meet Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the auditorium of Henderson County Library, 301 North Washington Street, Hendersonville, NC. There are no dues and no admission. Anyone interested in any aspect of theatre or creative writing is invited. An article about this group appeared in the recent edition of DRAMATISTS Magazine, the official publication of The Dramatists Guild.
Cherryville Little Theatre
Cherryville Little Theatre will be hosting auditions for the production of "The Addams Family" on August 4 & 5, 2016 at the Cherryville Little Theatre from 6:00-8:00pm. This production is scheduled to go to stage Oct 28, 29 and 30, 2016. There is no age limit for auditions. Please be advised that this show does contain language, sexual innuendos and some dark "horror" thematic elements, which may not be suitable for every individual. Hospice Cleveland County
"Reflections" Sharing Group. This grief sharing group meets for six weeks at no cost and is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. If you plan to attend one of our groups, please make every effort to attend all six sessions. Memory Bear and Pillow Workshop Participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear or pillow out of a loved one's shirt of other article of clothing. Shelby American Legion Post 82
Shelby American Legion Post 82 will host a "Walk for Veterans" through downtown Shelby on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 9:00am. Leading the walk will be American Legion National Commander Dale Barnett and North Carolina Department Commander David Shore. As quoted by Commander Barnett, "The purpose of this walk is to raise public awareness about the crucial issues facing America's veterans and their families. An estimated 22 veterans a day commit suicide. Traumatic brain injuries have become a signature wound of the Global War on Terrorism and up to 20 percent of the men and women who served in Iraq or Afghanistan suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Also veterans still have difficulty receiving health care in a timely manner and many have be includes a "Walk for Veterans" Tee Shirt. Remaining proceeds will benefit American Legion charities. Casar Masonic Lodge
The Casar Masonic Lodge will hold their 10th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 27, 2016, to support the Masonic Children's Home and Masonic and Eastern Star Home, at 9:00am, check in at 8:00am, Shotgun start, Pine Mountain Golf Course, 2961 Pine Mountain Drive, Connelly Springs, NC. The Annual Polkville High School Alumni Reunion is Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Camp Call Masonic Lodge, located across from Union Baptist Church in Polkville, NC. Benefit for Chris Whitworth
A Benefit hotdog, hamburger, and bake sale will be held for Chris Whitworth. It will take place Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 11:00am until 5:00pm, at Laurel Hill United Methodist church. Chris is awaiting a liver transplant in Washington DC. Because of complications he is unable to get one in North Carolina. He has to travel back for a serious procedure in September.
