What: Summer Reading Program

More Info: No need to register to attend, and all events are free and open to the public! Thursday, June 21: Create Night, program at the library for teens ages 13-18 at 1:30 pm. Participants will use iPads to create music, comic books, and learn about a variety of creative apps. Thursday, June 21: Manga Book Club join CCML at The Imperial Emporium (226 S. Lafayette St. in Shelby) discussing Your Lie in April by Naoshi Arakawa. The Manga Book Club is for ages 16 and up. Monday, June 25: Bookish Coasters program at the library for adults 18+, at 6 pm. Join us to craft a bookish coaster using pages from advanced reader copy books and ceramic tiles. Tuesday, June 26: Bright Star Theater presents American Tunes and Tales, this program at the library for school age children features folk songs and folk tales from Appalachia to New England to California. Thursday, June 28: T-Shirt Design for teens (13-18). Bring a color t-shirt or two to the library and use our supplies to create a one-of-a-kind design. What: Amateur Radio Field Day
When: Saturday, June 23rd 2pm
Where: Cleveland County Fairgrounds
More Info: Shelby Amateur Radio Club and ARES of Cleveland County (sponsored by the Shelby Amateur Radio Club) will be holding their annual ARRL Field Day. The group will be operating 24 hours on emergency power to simulate operations during a disaster. Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. There will be opportunities at the field day site allowing newcomers and inactive ham radio operators to try their hand at amateur radio!
What: Lost Playwright Meeting
When: Saturday, June 23rd from 2pm to 4pm
Where: Kaplan Auditorium of Henderson County Library, 301 North Washington St., Hendersonville, NC
More Info: All persons interested in any aspect of theatre or creative writing is invited. There are no dues.

What: Lattimore 4th of July Celebration
When: Wednesday, July 4th
More Info: Parade begins at 9 am and will feature floats, tractors, horses, antique cars, go-carts, and much more. At the conclusion of the parade, a patriotic program and bluegrass entertainment will be featured at the recreation park of Lattimore Baptist Church. Concessions and lunch will be sold by the Lattimore Baptist Youth Department to raise funds for youth projects. This year's entertainment will be provided by The Shady Oak Ramblers Bluegrass Band Entries are needed for the parade! Businesses, families, and individuals desiring to enter floats, cars, etc. in the parade should line up on Towery Road at 8:30 am. What: 26th Annual Crouse 4th of July Parade

Where: Downtown Crouse
More Info: Parade lineup will begin at 3:00pm/Crouse United Methodist Church on Pleasant Grove Church Road, Crouse, NC. Spectators welcome and interested churches, organizations or individuals are urged to bring golf carts, tractors with trailers, lawn mowers with trailers, classic cars, trucks, four wheelers, bicycles, floats, goats, horses with wagons or buggies/horses with riders. Be creative.
