Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        On November 6, Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator with the Foothills Farmer’s Market will share information about Local Foods and big plans for the Market in our community. The Garden Gate on November 20 will feature music and stories by Georgiana Wright. Garden Gate Programs are presented at the library every first and third Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45.  Bag lunches are welcome and beverages are served.
The Cherryville Little Theatre
        The Cherryville Little Theatre announces the upcoming comedy “The Nerd”. Goofiness takes center stage! It’s 1976 and Willum Cubbert has it all - a promising career as an architect, devoted friends, even, maybe, a serious girlfriend.  But then Rick Steadman, the ultimate social misfit, comes to visit and puts everything in peril. The Nerd escalates into madcap farce as Willum tries to out-nerd his sanity-destroying houseguest. Featuring Robert Jenkins, Michael Medlin, Dawn Rickus, Bryan Denton, Jim Champion, Denise McCoy and Noah Neal. Performance Dates are November 14-15 at 7:30pm, and November 9 at 3:00pm. Lost Playwrights of Western North Carolina
        Lost Playwrights of Western North Carolina will meet Saturday, November 15, 2:00pm - 4:00pm, in the auditorium of Henderson County Library, 301 North Washington Street, Hendersonville, NC. All person interested in any aspect of theatre or creative writing are invited to attend. There are no dues.
Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Department
        American Idol’s Majesty Rose will be performing a concert at Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, November 15. Majesty Rose was in the top 10 contestants in the competition and has recently returned from the American Idol tour. The proceeds from the concert will go to Justice Ministries in Charlotte. Justice Ministries is an organization that takes girls out of sex trafficking in the Charlotte area and provide them safety and restoration. The price of the concert is $10 for the public and $2 with Gardner-Webb ID. Doors open at 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm.   
        Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Arts Department is proud to present: Getting Out November 19-22, 7:30pm and November 23, 2:30pm, Millennium Playhouse, Gardner-Webb University, 110 South Main St., Boiling Springs, NC. Marsha Norman’s play Getting Out is set today in Louisville, Kentucky. When released from prison Arlene returns to a run-down apartment, intent on starting her life over. Rebellious and disruptive as a young girl, she has found strength in religion and wants to put her youth behind her. Holiday Bazaar Township 3 Rams
       Holiday Bazaar Township 3 Rams will be hosting their second annual Holiday Bazaar Thursday, November 20 from 3:00-7:00 in the main lobby and hall. All profits made at the Bazaar go to their Social Worker Fund. (The fund is for clothing, school supplies, food, field trips, and any special student/family needs.) Cash sales are preferred but checks will be accepted. It will be individual vendor sales and money collection. The Bazaar is FREE entry fee!

       Cliffords Army Rescue (CARE) Presents the 2nd Annual Santa Pet Pics and Bake Sale, Saturday November 22, 11:00am - 4:00pm, at Tractor Supply Company, 1655 E. Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC. Bring your four legged friend out for a picture with Santa for $5.00 printed on site. Buy homemade cakes, pies, cookies, breads, cupcakes, etc for the holidays.  Ambassador Baptist College, Lattimore
       You are cordially invited to kick off the Christmas season with Ambassador Baptist College’s annual presentation of “A Christmas Concert featuring Handel’s Messiah.” On Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29, the college chorale and selected soloists will be singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, as well as additional Christmas selections. 17th Annual Earl Christmas Parade

        All Area Churches are invited to participate, promote and help celebrate “Joy to the World”. There will be a truck in the parade and one at New Hope Baptist Church to collect can goods for “Feed the Hungry”. Men and youth are needed at each truck to load food. The Town of Casar Christmas Parade
       The Town of Casar is getting ready for the Casar Christmas Parade on Sunday December 14, 3:00pm and they are accepting entries. Line up starts at Casar Elementary at 1:30pm. Cleveland County Schools Head Start
       Cleveland County Schools Head Start is accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year. Bethware Elementary, Boiling Springs Elementary, Casar Elementary, East Elementary, Fallston Elementary, Graham Elementary, Grover Elementary, James Love Elementary, Marion Elementary, North Elementary, Township Three Elementary and Washington Elementary. This program is for eligible children, 4 years of age or who will be by August 31, of this year. They will be given priority and 3 year old eligible children will fill any remaining openings. *If you live in the Jefferson, Union or West school zones, you can still apply for one of the schools listed above. The program is designed for families with low to moderate income, regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, special needs or disabling condition. Cleveland County Arts Council, Shelby
       The Cleveland County Arts Council is pleased to announce private instruction for artists to improve their painting or drawing skills. Steven Greenway wants to help you build your skills in one-on-one or small group sessions. These special instructive sessions are held at the Cleveland County Arts Council by appointment. Sessions are 1-1/2 hours long with individual instruction. Bring your own art materials and samples of your work. The Artist, Steven Greenway has his MFA in Fine Arts from the Otis Art Institute. His experience includes book illustrations, graphic design, teaching, and private art instruction. He was employed as  the art director for Clyde A Short and McDowell Technical Community College. Private or Group Drawing and Painting Sessions with Steven Greenway. Individual: $30 per session or $80 for three sessions. Groups 2 – 4: $20 per session per person or $55 per person for three sessions as a group.
Kiwanis Club, Shelby
        Kiwanis Club of Shelby is a group of professionals who are involved in the community and looking to change Cleveland County, one child at a time. This fundraising and project oriented club meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at noon at Smoke on the Square - Private Dining room, 5 East Marion Street, Shelby, NC; or the 2nd Thursday evening of every month at 5:30pm at Dragonfly Wine Market, 101 West Warren Street, Shelby, NC. Mental Health Association of Cleveland County
        Survivors of Suicide Support Group meets twice a month, with a daytime and evening meeting. The Evening Group meets the 2nd Monday of every month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer (502 W. Sumter Street, Shelby, NC).  The Daytime Group meets the last Tuesday of every month from 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library (104 Howie Drive, Shelby, NC). Sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County.
