Crest High Band Booster, Shelby
        The Marching Chargers Association Fall BBQ fundraiser will be held on Senior Night, (Crest vs. Shelby), Friday, October 24, 5:00-7:00pm, at the Crest High Cafeteria. Purchase a BBQ Sandwich Basket with a sandwich, chips, dessert and drink for only $7. For an additional $3 you can get an extra sandwich with basket purchase. All proceeds benefit the Award Winning Crest High Band Program. Bar H Arena, Boiling Springs
        The things of the night will soon gather at the Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs, NC for the Annual Bar H Haunted Hayride and Indoor Maze. The frights will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25, and October 31. The event begins at dark (approx. 7:30) and will go until the lines of fright seekers are gone. Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kings Mountain
        The Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3800 Margrace Road, Kings Mountain, NC will be holding a BBQ Chicken Plate Dinner fundraiser, Saturday, October 25, 4:00pm. Includes Chicken, slaw, baked beans, rolls and dessert. $7 per plate. Carryout or dine in.
Cleveland Counting Association of Teacher Assistants, Shelby
        The Cleveland County Association of Teacher Assistants is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast at Fatz Cafe, 1235 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC, Saturday, October 25, 7:00am - 10:00am. Donation: $7. There will be a silent auction from 8:00-9:00am.
Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society
        Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society will meet Sunday, October 26, 2:30pm at the Cleveland County Agricultural Offices on South Post Road next to Food Lion. The program will be on ‘Composting’ given by Gary Whitt from the Charlotte Rose Society.  The public is welcome to attend and learn about composting for your garden and plants. Refreshments will be served.
Holiday Gift Galleria, Shelby
        The holiday Gift Galleria is held by the junior charity league to help raise money to provide clothes for children in need. There will be over 60 vendors with all sorts of items for sale. Get your Christmas shopping done early! The dates are Friday, October 31 from 10-6:30, Saturday, November 1 from 10-6 and Sunday, November 2 from 12-4.
Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        On November 6, Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator with the Foothills Farmer’s Market will share information about Local Foods and big plans for the Market in our community. The Garden Gate on November 20 will feature music and stories by Georgiana Wright. Garden Gate Programs are presented at the library every first and third Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45.  Bag lunches are welcome and beverages are served.
Broad River Genealogical Society, Shelby
        The Broad River Genealogical Society presents: The Excavation of Fort San Juan, at the Indian Village of Joara by John Krebs (Modern-day Morganton, NC), Tuesday, November 9, 3:00pm, at The Neal Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC. Park and enter at the back of the Senior Center). Hear John Krebs discuss the Fort, its history and the excavations and discoveries the archeologists have made.

        Kiwanis Club of Shelby is a group of professionals who are involved in the community and looking to change Cleveland County, one child at a time. This fundraising and project oriented club meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at noon at Smoke on the Square - Private Dining room, 5 East Marion Street, Shelby, NC; or the 2nd Thursday evening of every month at 5:30pm at Dragonfly Wine Market, 101 West Warren Street, Shelby, NC. One evening social a month at area restaurants. Membership dues are $40 per quarter plus $60 for meals per quarter if you attend lunch meetings. Parents Without Partners, Shelby
       PWP meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. at the Shelby Presbyterian Church for educational programs and at other times as scheduled for monthly social activities including: dances, plays, and concerts. Mental Health Association of Cleveland County
        Survivors of Suicide Support Group meets twice a month, with a daytime and evening meeting. The Evening Group meets the 2nd Monday of every month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer (502 W. Sumter Street, Shelby, NC).  The Daytime Group meets the last Tuesday of every month from 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library (104 Howie Drive, Shelby, NC). Sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County. Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Lincoln Co. Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen St., Lincolnton. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting, visitors and new members are always welcome. Burns High School Class of 1974
        The Burns High School Class of 1974 will celebrate its 40th class reunion Saturday, November 1, 6:45-11:00, at the Owl’s Eye Winery, 1414 Metcalf Road, Shelby, NC. The doors open at 6:45pm and dinner will be served at 7:30. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer available. The cost is $30 per person. Dress is casual. Please make checks payable to BHS Class of 1974 and mail to Amy Lutz, 130 Lutz Rd, Lawndale, NC 28090 by October 11. There will also be a special welcoming station at the home football game on Friday, October 31 as Burns vs. Crest at 7:30pm. Next meeting is Saturday, October 18, 3:00pm, at Owl’s Eye Winery.
