The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
        The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will host their 41st annual Rose Show on September 27. The show will be located in Cleveland Mall at the entrance next to Burkes Outlet and will be open to the public from 1:00-4:00pm. We will have rose arrangements and bud vases for sale. Everyone is invited to ‘stop and smell the roses’.
The Pinnacle Classical Academy Parent-Teacher Organization Hosts Flapjack Fundraiser
        The Pinnacle Classical Academy Parent-Teacher Organization will be hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser Saturday, September 27, 8:00am at the Applebee’s located at 433 Earl Road, Shelby, NC. All proceeds raised will be used in conjunction with the school’s Spirit Night funds to be voted on for special projects as Pinnacle enters into its second year of establishment. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door or by calling 704-481-2362.

One Stop Food Stores and Fox Distributing Host 32nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament
        One Stop Food Stores and Fox Distributing, Inc. will be hosting their 32nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, October 1, at Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby, NC. Proceeds from the golf outing will be donated to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas (PAC). The fee for the tournament is $135 per player and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, green fees, a goodie bag, as well as one mulligan, one throw, one ladies tee, one chance drawing and a putting contest. The tournament format will be “Captains Choice-Flighting Only”. Registration begins at 8:00am with a shotgun start as 9:00am. Deadline to register is Friday, September 24. Neal Senior Center, Shelby
        The Neal Senior Center in Shelby will host an AutoBazaar Saturday, October 4. Classic cars, race cars and motorcycles are just some of the vehicles on display. Stop by and meet stock car legend, Gray London. Visit over 40 different vendors, including Subway, Standridge Auto Parts, Tradin’ Paint Raced Used Collectibles, Vision Racing Ministries, The Magical DJ and The Don Gibson Theatre. Cliffside Day
        Cliffside Day: October 11. Rain or shine. Welcome all past employees of Cone Mills, Duke Power employees and general public. Activities begin at 6:30am with breakfast; followed by flag pole dedication by Representative Mike Hagen at 9:00am. All day activities are planned with singing, children’s events, games. A BBQ lunch will be provided by Temple Baptist Church. Hot  Dogs and desserts prepared by Cliffside Baptist Church. Reasonable cost for food. Crafts and vendors welcome.         Sunday, October 12, 3:00pm - Dr. Melinda Ratchford another North Carolina Humanities Council Scholar will be presenting the Titanic, the ship of dreams. She will give a presentation on true facts about the Titanic, and the Carolina connections. She has studied for over 50 years, and is a Professor at Belmont Abbey. Everyone that has heard Dr. Ratchford walks away with a better understanding of what happened on the Titanic. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University and UNC at Greensboro, and a doctors degree from UNC Chapel Hill.

Life Outreach Food & Clothing Ministry, Kings Mtn.
        Life of Worship Ministries, 403 Cherokee Street, Kings Mountain, NC, will be having a FREE Food Pantry and Clothes Closet for people in need of food and/or clothes. They are able to come once a month the 1st Wednesday thru the 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 11:00am - 1:00pm. They will need to bring their current ID. A Meal will be served every 4th Wednesday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. This month Hot Dogs with homemade Chili and Slaw, Chip, Pork n Beans, Cake and Lemonade, will be served. Donations accepted of cash/check (any amount) non-perishable foods, household and HBA items as well as clean, new or gently used clothes.        PWP meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. at the Shelby Presbyterian Church for educational programs and at other times as scheduled for monthly social activities including: dances, plays, and concerts. Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Lincoln Co. Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen St., Lincolnton. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting, visitors and new members are always welcome. Mental Health Association of Cleveland County
        Survivors of Suicide Support Group meets twice a month, with a daytime and evening meeting. The Evening Group meets the 2nd Monday of every month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer (502 W. Sumter Street, Shelby, NC).  The Daytime Group meets the last Tuesday of every month from 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library (104 Howie Drive, Shelby, NC). Sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County. Burns High School Class of 1974
        The Burns High School Class of 1974 will celebrate its 40th class reunion Saturday, November 1, 6:45-11:00, at the Owl’s Eye Winery, 1414 Metcalf Road, Shelby, NC. The doors open at 6:45pm and dinner will be served at 7:30. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer available. The cost is $30 per person. Dress is casual. Please make checks payable to BHS Class of 1974 and mail to Amy Lutz, 130 Lutz Rd, Lawndale, NC 28090 by October 11. There will also be a special welcoming station at the home football game on Friday, October 31 as Burns vs. Crest at 7:30pm. Next meeting is Saturday, Septebmer 20, at Owl’s Eye Winergy.
