Norma Jean Pate Carroll, age 78, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at Somerset Court. She was born on February 24, 1936 in Gaston County to the late William Earl Pate and Violet Maude Jenkins. Norma was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by University of Chapel Hill Hospital and Gaston Memorial Hospital as an Administrative Assistant. She loved to read and enjoyed doing cross-stitching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Billy Lee Carroll and an infant son.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Smith and husband, Jerry of Cherryville, and Nanci Page of Casar; son, William Lon Carroll of Cherryville; sister, Rose Marie Sanders of Lakeland, FL; brother, Jim Pate and wife, Norma of Gaffney; grandchildren, Lee Page and wife, Chastity of Cherryville, Heather Grier of Cherryville, Jeremy Smith and wife, Keri of Nova Scotia, Wendy Barrett and husband, Derek of Cherryville, Laura Dotson of Cherryville, Hannah Carroll of Cherryville, and Billy Lee Carroll II of Cherryville; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 6:30 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 to 6:15 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 900 Dontia Dr. Lincolnton, NC 28092.
