Pro Angler Bryan Thrift Wins $24,000 in Season-Ending Championship

Local professional angler Bryan Thrift of Shelby, North Carolina, wrapped up his 2015 Walmart FLW Tour season this weekend in Hot Springs, Arkansas, bringing a four-day total of 20 bass weighing 45 pounds even to the scale at the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Ouachita presented by Walmart. Thrift finished the event in sixth place and won a nice $24,000 paycheck for his efforts in professional bass-fishing's world championship tournament.
"This season has been quite a journey," said Thrift, who earned more than $203,000 in winnings in the 2015 season. "I'd like to say thank you to my family, friends and fans that have been there with me along the way."
The tournament was won by pro Brad Knight of Lancing, Tennessee, who weighed a four-day total of 20 bass for 51 pounds, 12 ounces. Knight earned the $500,000 top prize in the event that showcased 50 of the best bass-fishing anglers in the world competing in the final regular-season tournament.

The FLW Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart was hosted by Visit Hot Springs and the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. It was the final FLW Tour event of the 2015 season.
FLW and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Saturday that Huntsville, Alabama, will be hosting the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart, the world championship of bass fishing, Aug. 4-7, 2016, on Wheeler Lake. This event marks the first time that the Forrest Wood Cup, the sport's richest prize, has visited Wheeler Lake.
