R.P. Hoyle, age 90, died Thursday April 3, 2014 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on March 24, 1924 he was the son of the late Clarence Pinkney and Flavie Olivia Costner Hoyle. R. P. retired from Ester Mill after many years of service as a fixer. He attended St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain. He was a genuinely kind man who appreciated everyone and was thankful for others and their kindness to him.  R.P. enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alda Mae Bell Hoyle; two sisters, Ruth Randall and Montrose Replenski.

R. P. is survived by his son, Keith Hoyle of Shelby;  three sisters, Martha Hamrick and husband James of Shelby, Lois Smith of Charlotte, Margie Greene of Earl; and a brother, Billy Hoyle and wife Nancy of Shelby.

A private graveside will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
