Reverend Doctor Edward John Brown
The Reverend Doctor Edward John Brown, 93, of East Marion Street, Shelby, died on Wednesday, January 01, 2014 at Willow Ridge Nursing Center, Rutherfordton. A native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, he was born on December 13, 1920, a son of the late Allen Brown and Eleanor Brown. He was a retired Baptist Minister, member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church of Shelby, member of the Oasis Shriners, and was a Mason.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ware Bridges. He is survived by five children, two brothers, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service celebrating Dr. Brown’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 04, 2014 at Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Costner officiating. The family will gather and receive friends immediately following the service.
