Rommie R. Carpenter

KINGS MOUNTAIN- Rommie R. Carpenter, 91, passed away Thursday January 22, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Union County, NC, he was the son of the late George Washington and Winnie Ann Burgess Carpenter. He was a veteran of the United States military serving our country in the Army. He was a member of Westover Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, and a frequent visitor of City Auto Coffee Club in Kings Mountain. He loved his friends at Westover Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Edith Bridges Carpenter; two sons, Larry Dean and Paul Edward Carpenter.

SURVIVED: He is survived by three sons, Ronald Stephen Carpenter and wife Barbara, George Sydney Carpenter and wife Susan, and David "D.C." Wayne Carpenter and wife Sandra all of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Frances Carpenter Davis and husband Richard of Gastonia, Cynthia Carpenter Davis and husband George of Kings Mountain; one special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Jane Ayers Carpenter and another daughter-in-law Louise Belk Carpenter both of Kings Mountain; one brother, Jesse Carpenter of Hamptonville, NC; special brother-in-law and best friend, William "Bill" Bridges; and 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

CLERGY: Rev. Kevin Whitington.

BURIAL: Burial will be after the service in Mountain Rest Cemetery with military honors.
