Roxann Murray Nanney, 72, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away very peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, September 19, 2016. She was born July 6, 1944, in Cleveland County, NC to the late Golden Valley and Blanche Hastings Murray. In addition to her parents and a sister she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Wayne Nanney.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 25 years. She taught both young people and senior adults. Roxann loved her family, her Pastor, and her church family. She retired after working over 20 years for Parker Hannifin.

She is survived by two sons, Eric Nanney and wife Sherri of Mooresboro, and Steve Nanney and wife Stacie of Greenwood, Indiana. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren: granddaughters: Katie Nanney of Raleigh, NC, Kasie Nanney of Shelby, NC, and Kaleena Nanney of Greenwood, Indiana and her grandson: Caleb Nanney of Greenwood, Indiana; and her step-grandchildren, Alesha, Audrie, Bristin, Devan, Mercedes Lynn and Joseph.

She is survived by three sisters and three brothers: Betty Rayfield and husband Harold of Hickory, NC, Kathleen Henson and husband Donald of Harris, NC, and Lorene Scoggins of Rutherfordton, NC; Jess Lee Murray and wife Mary of Lawndale, NC, John Murray and wife Deb of Caroleen, NC, and Ernest Murray and wife Leah of Caroleen, NC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Receiving of friends will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, Ellenboro, NC. Celebration of the promotion of Roxann Nanney to the Church Triumphant will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Mack Tester officiating.

Graveside services will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11 am at Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby, NC with Rev. Mack Tester and Rev. Owen Duncan officiating.
