Samuel Alexander Jenkins
 Samuel Alexander Jenkins, Jr., 59, of 303 Old Mill Road , Shelby, died
Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Born November 1, 1954 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Samuel
Alexander Jenkins, Sr. and Mary Louise Bridges Jenkins.  He was a machinist
for Baldor in Kings Mountain and was a member of Mull's Memorial Baptist
Church.  Sam was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was known
by his grandchildren as "Poppy".   He enjoyed NASCAR, loved spending time at
the beach with his family and was an excellent carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Lankford Jenkins; two daughters, Miranda
Bridges and husband, Jacob of Shelby and Dena Jenkins of Mooresboro; two
step daughters, Jodie Brackett and husband, Fuller of Casar and Katina
Lankford of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Elijah Lankford, Zoie Lankford,
Calee Jolley, Carter and Laney Bridges; and two sisters, Cornelia Sweezy of
Shelby and Amanda Jolley of Lyman, SC.

Visitation: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday at Mull's Memorial Baptist Church

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday at  Mull's Memorial Baptist Church

Officiating: Rev. Jeff Self

Burial: will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park

Memorials: May be made to Relay For Life Team "Sam I Am",  American Cancer
