Sarah Whitaker, age 82, of Forest City, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born May 15, 1934 in Cherokee County, SC, she was a daughter to the late Charlie and Julie Thrift. Sarah was a member of Florence Baptist Church and retired from Doncaster and Tanner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Whitaker; sister, Marie Scruggs; and a brother, Willie Thrift.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Glenda Johnson and husband Bruce; two sisters, Rose Lee Bostic and husband Yates, Margaret Lovelace; three grandchildren, Robert Johnson, Anita Goforth and husband Reid, Shelia Crawford and husband Tony; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Florence Baptist Church in the narthex.
