Tammy Melton, Local Fishing Report

Carolina Bass Club had 19 Anglers to fish Jan 15 at Lake Norman for their first tournament of 2022. They said their first tournament of the new season went very well considering the snow storm this area got the next day. They said the water temp was from 53 to 57 degrees, mostly clear, the wind blew steady all day and the boat traffic was minimum.

Here are the tournament results.

Congratulations!

1st place--The team of Stan Brackett and Aaron Ruff had a 5 fish limit, weighing 9.83 pounds.

2nd place--The team of Russell Cook and Roger Clark with a 5 fish limit, weighing 8.68 pounds.

3rd place--The team of Brian Branch and Doyle Hudson with a 5 fish limit weighing, 8.44 pounds.

4th place--The team of Keith McClure and Jr. Self with a 5 fish limit, weighing 8.41 pounds.

Jr. Self won the big fish of the day award with a 2.81 pounder.

George Crosswhite won the 2nd big fish of the day award with a 2.74 pounder.

The Carolina Bass Club fishes Lake Wiley , February 19, 2022.

Cleveland County Bass Club fished their first 2022 tournament also on Saturday, January 15. They fished at Lake Rhodhiss and reported the wind blew all day, and the water temp was ranging 46 to 49 degrees. They basically had the lake to themselves except for a few other boaters. I really thought the fish would be turned on with the front that was coming in Saturday night, but that was not the case on this lake.

Congratulations to the top three!

1st--Derrick Barkley 1 fish--1.80 lbs

2nd--Jimmy Melton 1 fish--1.40 lbs

3rd --Roger Beaver 1 fish --.84 lbs
